A group, the New Nigeria Movement has started actions to curtail what it described as the nation’s politics where leadership has continuously resided with the elders. Their leadership, the group said has failed to profit the nation.
Former Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship aspirant in Kwara state, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim Ajia, on Tuesday in Ilorin, announced the launch of the Movement which he said would create awareness for the youths in the country to take up leadership roles in 2023.
Addressing a press conference at the NUJ press centre, the youth leader, said the youths no longer have confidence in the two major political parties that have grossly disappointed the country.
He said youths around the country would be mobilised and sensitised to vie for positions in the bid to take over governance from the current old politicians.
Ajia, said the aim of the movement is to ensure that the next leaders of the country would be people to start a new Nigeria.
"We want people who are competent and visionary to lead us to the promised land," adding that, " who ever wants to be our president must be between 50 years below."
Ajia, assured that no youth would accept to be engaged as a thug by the desperate politicians seeking political power in the country.
Ajia, also at the press conference, announced the training of 75 working journalists in the council on ITC to be sponsored by MAI foundation.
