Ilorin, Jan. 6 – The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has implemented a new system enabling graduates to collect their unclaimed certificates via courier service.
The initiative, announced by the university’s Registrar, Mr. Mansur Alfanla, represents a shift towards international best practices aimed at improving convenience for alumni.
Speaking to journalists on Monday in Ilorin, Alfanla explained that the new system allows graduates to opt for courier delivery as an alternative to in-person collection.
“This marks a significant departure from the university’s previous policy, which prohibited third-party collection of certificates,” he said.
Requirements for Collection
Graduates opting for the courier service must submit the following:
Original statement of result
Court affidavit
Indemnity form
Valid international passport (for those residing abroad)
For those who prefer physical collection, certificates will be available at the university’s premises between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
“This development is particularly beneficial for graduates residing outside the country, as it eliminates the need for them to travel to Ilorin,” Alfanla added.
The university issued a memo dated December 18, 2023, advising all graduates to collect their certificates by January 17, 2025.
According to the memo, graduates who fail to meet this deadline will incur a fine of ₦3,000 per week before they can collect their certificates.
