A reconciliatory meeting to reconcile the warring factions of the All Progressives Party in Kwara State in Abuja has ended in a stalemate.

The meeting which was at the instance of the National Committee of the Party was aimed at resolving all the internal crisis that has engulfed the State Chapter which led to the suspension of the State Chairman of the Party.

The meeting was chaired by the APC National Secretary, Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe, with other members of the National Committee. It was believed that the parley would facilitate understanding by all parties involved to see reasons to embrace peace, tolerance, forgiveness and  reconcile the different factions within party

Midlandpost learnt that in spite of all peace efforts, the factions remained adamant on their stands. The source said the Caretaker Committee has therefore directed the feuding parties to explore peace at the zonal level. Kwara state belongs to the North Central zone of the party where the Niger State governor, serves as Chairman.

The Lai Mohammed-led faction had last week at a press conference in Abuja, accused Sanni Bello of connivance with the Governor of Kwara State in the removal of the erstwhile Kwara state Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa and his replacement with his deputy, Alhaji Samari Abdullahi.

The APC in Kwara State has been enmeshed in fierce battle with accusations and counter accusations by the warring factions within the party. While a faction accused the governor of running a one-man government with no regard for other factions of the party, the pro-governor group accuses the faction of “vicious attacks and blackmails”

Matter came to a head last week when Bolarinwa was removed as the state Chairman of the Caretaker Committee.
