Kahinde Dehinde Ilesanmi, a Comproller of Customs has assumed duty as the Area Controller (CAC) of Kwara Command.
The Area Command covers Kwara, Kogi and Niger states.
Ilesanmi took over from Hussaini Jallo who was in acting capacity.
A release from the Command’s spokesperson, Chado Zakari said the new Controller came with modern and highly effective strategies for the Command.
He said the new head immediately hit the ground running with a charge to officers and stakeholders to sustain their level of discipline and improve in revenue collection and block outlets of smuggling activities.
The Controller, according to Zakari urged operatives to keep up their anti smuggling operations and prevent loss of government revenue through leakages and anti-smuggling activities.
He said the command under his leadership would continue to act tough against smugglers to get them arrested and seize their illicit goods.
His statement reads in part: “The new Controller assured that he will work assiduously towards consolidating the feat attained by his predecessor, disclosing that, with the ongoing border drill exercise, the task to effectively secure our land border remains his utmost priority.
“He solicited for the maximum support and cooperation of the officers and men of the command to effectively manage the affairs of the command towards suppression of smuggling and other trans-border crimes.
“He also sought the support of sister agencies while looking forward to consolidate on the existing synergy between the command and all critical stakeholders”. Zakari said in the statement.
Before his new post, Comptroller Ilesanmi was the Controller, Nigeria Customs Service Board, at the Headquarters in Abuja.
Zakari said the Controller thanked the Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali, and the management team for the appointment, with a pledge to work in line with the service rules.
He added that the new CAC described discipline as key to other virtues of productivity. He pledged on ensuring improved revenue collection, while coming hard on smugglers in his area of responsibility.
