The management of the Kwara State University says it is working assiduously with relevant security operatives to secure the release of Isiaq Khadeejah, a 300 level Mass Communication student of the institution who was kidnapped on Sunday at Malete. The university also vowed that it would ensure that the culprits are brought to book.

Khadeejah, according to reports was abducted while walking on the street in the company of her friends. She was the lone victim of the abductors who were said to be armed. Another unconfirmed report said a N50 million ransom has been placed on her by the abductors.

A release  by Abdulrazaq Sanni, Director, University Relations confirming the event, said the management and entire university community, woke up to “the shocking news about Isiaq Khadeejah, a student of Mass Communications, who reportedly was kidnapped on Sunday, August 22,2021, along Okoru Road in Malete.”

He said, “the management is working assiduously with relevant security operatives to secure the release of Khadeejah, ensure that the culprits are brought to book and also provide adequate security on the campus.”

The Police Commissioner, Amienbo Tuesday Assayomo, has also deployed the anti-kidnapping squad as well as the IGP Response Team to Malete to work in collaboration with the local vigilantes and other relevant agencies to rescue the victim, the spokesman of the institution stated.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Mustapha Akanbi, (SAN), has advised the university community to be more security conscious, report strange or suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities, while students should avoid keeping late nights.

He assured that measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of lives and properties of students and staff of the institution.
