Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara state has inaugurated five new commissioners and a Special Adviser, with a charge to cabinet members to work as a team for better service delivery to the people of the state.

A minor cabinet reshuffle involving four ministries was also effected.

Speaking at the event, Governor Abdulrazaq said "with barely one year to the end of our first tenure, I urge you and all other government appointees to be committed to service to our people."

He charged the cabinet members and ruling APC politicians to run a campaign filled with evidences of the government's achievements and avoid negative campaigns ahead of next year's general elections.

“As campaigns begin in the coming months, we should avoid empty words and maintain decorum at all times.

“Notwithstanding the coming campaign, every minute should be spent to make life more worth living for the people. I also call on everyone to work as a team for better results."

According to the governor, “Mudslinging does not bring food to the table of the ordinary citizens nor guarantee them improved welfare. Name-calling only works for those who have no real ideas about how to move a society forward."

He said at a time of national security and economic emergencies, the electorate, should demand an immediate shift to issues-based campaigns, explaining that as an administration, “we will constantly speak to the gains of the past three years and sell our agenda for the future."

Governor Abdulrazaq asserted that the government has tremendous strides to showcase from the education sector, water, health, access roads, workers’ welfare to agriculture among others, adding " we can only improve on these achievements."

The new cabinet members are Alhaji Agbaje Wahab (Whyte) who has been assigned to man the Ministry of Water Resources; Ibrahim Akaje (Business, Innovation and Technology); Adenike Harriet Oshatimehin (Solid Minerals); Dr. Afeez Abolore (Tertiary Education); and Lateef Alakawa Gidado (Agric).

Architect Aliyu Mohammed Saifudeen moved from Local Government to Housing and Urban Development, replaced by Aliyu Kora Sabi who was before now in the Ministry of Energy.

Sabi is replaced by Mariam Ahmed Hassana — until now the Commissioner for Special Duties. Olaitan Buraimah moves to Ministry of Special Duties.
