Kwara state police command on Thursday paraded sixteen criminals among who were suspected members of Eiye and Aiye confraternities who earlier in the week unleashed terror in Oko Olowo area of ilorin.

Addressing newsmen at the state police command headquarters in Ilorin, on Thursday, Police Commissioner Mr Mohammed Lawal Bagega, said, they were arrested while allegedly planning to execute another attack at Oloje/Oko-Olowo area of Ilorin.

The arrested  suspects, comprising four females and twelve males, are, Asake Azeez, (m) Ishola Olasanmi, (f) Adeshina Sambo, (m) Oluwaremi Bilikis, (f) Jimoh Aish, (f) Olarewaju Amina, (f) and Titilayo Alabi, (f), all members of Aiye Confraternity.

Others include, Shuaib Moroguru (m), Saeed Idris, (m), Eniola Babatunde, (m), Wasiu Saliu, (m), Abdulganiu Azeez, (m), Lekan Bello, (m), Abdulrazaq Isah, (m), Tajudeen Eniola, (m) and Jamina Hassan, (m).

Dangerous weapons including guns, machetes, axe, charms, wraps of weeds suspected to be India hemp among others to be used in the foiled attack were recovered.

“In their voluntary confessional statement, they confessed to be members both Aiye and Eiye Confraternity and that they were in Oko-Olowo on a revenge mission," the police boss told newsmen.

“If not for our effort, they would have unleashed an unmitigated terror on the residents and we all know their trademark, death," he added.

Bagega, disclosed that the arrested cultists are still undergoing investigation and would be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.

He said the command is still on the search for other fleeing members of the groups.

 Bagega, said he had re-invigorated, rekit and highly motivated the command's anti-kidnapping and anti-cultism teams for effective and efficient services to enable them face the challenges of keeping the state safe and secured, especially from cultists and kidnappers.

 The police commissioner, also announced the recovery of arms and ammunition at a criminals hideout, located in Moro Local Government Area of the state.

 According to him, a search of the location by operatives attached to the command, led to the recovery of six pieces of locally fabricated guns already prepared to be used by the criminals who are now on the run having got wind of police intentions.
