The University of Ilorin has unveiled its 2024 convocation programme, with the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi, SAN, slated to deliver the convocation lecture.
The university’s 39th convocation ceremonies will span multiple days, featuring a variety of academic and cultural events.
In a press release issued over the weekend, the University Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, announced that the ceremonies will kick off with a press briefing by the Vice Chancellor on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the University Auditorium, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The highlight of the event, the Convocation Lecture titled "Nurturing Democratic Values and Education for the Future of Nigeria," will be delivered by Chief Fagbemi on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 9:45 a.m. at the University Auditorium. That same day, the university's Performing Arts Theatre will stage a convocation play titled "Nilee Wa" (In Our Land).
The main convocation ceremony is scheduled for Monday, October 21, 2024, and Tuesday, October 22, 2024, where the graduands from the '4 Year' and '5 Year' programmes, as well as the Postgraduate School, will receive their degrees.
The event will conclude with the commissioning of newly completed projects by the university’s Visitor, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
