The leadership of the Asiwaju Tinubu-Shettima Coalition for Good Governance ATSCGG, an alliance of diverse support groups that actively championed the cause of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the February 2023 presidential election, has issued a compelling appeal to the President and the ruling party to step up actions in mitigating the challenges that are plaguing the nation.

The group spoke while paying a solidarity visit to the new National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje at the party secretariat in Abuja with an entourage led by its Director General, Dr Adebayo Abduraheem Shittu, former Minister of Communication.

He was accompanied by notable members of the executive, including the Deputy Director General and North East Coordinator Amb Muhammed Tsoken, the representative of the North Central Coordinator, Hon Anthony Dele Abiodun, a former Chairman of Ekiti Local Government in Kwara State and Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim, a retired Director of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria, SON.

Congratulating the Chairman, the coalition highlighted his extensive political experience, which makes him the fitting choice, especially at a time when the party requires a unifying figure to rally members and garner support for the President. It emphasised that the country teeters on the edge due to previous mismanagement, and stressed that both citizens and the nation are grappling with hardships and dwindling hope.

“We recognize President’s efforts in rectifying past mistakes and stabilizing the economy,” noted the Director General, “but his success hinges on the collective understanding and backing of the people, a responsibility that rests on the shoulders of the party.”

The coalition expressed concern that many party members and groups instrumental in securing the victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu have yet to experience the rewards of their dedication. They observed that certain individuals, who didn’t contribute during the campaign, have received appointments. Despite this, the coalition exhibited confidence in the new Chairman’s ability to guide the party in the right direction and rally the necessary support for the President.

In response, the party Chairman conveyed his appreciation to the coalition, lauding them as dedicated patriots and skilled politicians. He urged the coalition to persist in their efforts to further the party’s progress and collaborate with him as he endeavours to elevate the All Progressives Congress to greater heights.

Addressing the coalition’s reservations about certain appointments, Ganduje pointed out that in addition to technocrats, professionals, and accomplished achievers, some individuals labeled as “strong APC reliables” were appointed due to their unwavering dedication to the party, even during times of factionalisation leading up to the election.

“Some faction leaders sought their political fortunes elsewhere due to differing candidate choices,” explained Ganduje, “yet they still identify themselves as part of our party and actively supported our candidates in the Presidential Election.”

He assured the coalition of his commitment to reconcile fractured factions within the party and reintegrate disheartened members
