The management of the University of Ilorin has announced the death of its Council Chairman and Pro-Chancellor, Mallam Abidu Rafindadi Yazid, OON.
A release signed by the university Registrar, Dr Fola M. Olowoleni said the sad event occurred in the earlier hours of Thursday.
The University described the deceased as ‘beloved Council Chairman’ and prayed to God for the repose of his soul and to grant him eternal rest.
Olowoleni, also on behalf of the university, condoled with the family, the emirate, the Katsina State government and the entire people of Katsina State praying that God grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
Barely two weeks ago, Yazid announced at a press conference in Ilorin the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Wahab Egbewole, to take over from the outgoing VC, Professor Abdulkareem Age, whose tenure expires on October 15, 2022.
