The Presidency has reacted to the call by the upper chamber of the National Assembly that the service chiefs should be sacked.

In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President Buhari on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, the Presidency averred that it is the prerogative of President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint or sack the service chiefs.

A resolution of the Senate in the morning had called on the Service Chiefs to resign or be sacked due to the multi-pronged security challenges in the country.

The Presidency however, acknowledged the resolution of the Senate, assuring that President Buhari will do what is in the best interest of the country at all times.

Adesina said: “The Presidency notes the resolution, and reiterates that appointment or sack of Service Chiefs is a Presidential prerogative, and President Muhammadu Buhari, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, will do what is in the best interest of the country at all times.’
