Dr Adeboye with some Scholarship beneficiaries

The 1984 set of the Omu-Aran Government Secondary School Old Boys Association (OGSSOBA) has made a significant contribution to its alma mater by donating 40 computers and awarding scholarships to 14 academically outstanding students.

During the official presentation, Pastor Dr. Pitan Adeboye, representing the 1984 set, stated that the initiative was aimed at supporting the school in delivering quality education. He highlighted that the group facilitated the establishment of a Digital Nigeria Center at the school through the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) to enhance students' learning in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Dr. Adeboye further explained that the Digital Nigeria Center is part of a broader project by the USPF designed to provide access to online and offline educational resources. The project aims to promote the adoption of ICT in public secondary schools and equip students with 21st-century skills necessary for the digital era.

“The center will serve as a platform to train students in ICT, bridging the digital divide and preparing them for future challenges,” Adeboye said.

In his remarks, Prince Olusegun Adeniyi, a former National President of OGSSOBA, urged the school to manage the facility responsibly to ensure it fulfills its intended purpose. He also reiterated the Old Boys' commitment to bringing projects that foster 21st-century skills development to the school.

Adeniyi further encouraged students to focus on their academics, emphasizing that education remains the most valuable legacy their parents can provide.

The school principal, Pastor Ajewole Isaac, expressed deep appreciation to the 1984 set for their generosity, noting that the digital center would greatly enhance students' ICT knowledge. He also called on the Old Boys Association to continue supporting the school, stressing that the government alone cannot bear the full burden of providing quality education.

"This event marked a significant step towards modernizing the school’s learning environment, empowering students with the tools needed to succeed in an increasingly digital world", he observed.
