Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has sent hearty felicitations to the newly inaugurated national executive committee of the Nigeria Foundation for Artificial Intelligence (NFAI).
NFAI, a creation of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), brings together experts from the academia, government, and industry to promote responsible use of AI in Nigeria.
In a statement by Rafiu Ajakaye, his Chief Press Secretary, the Governor specifically congratulates the Chairman/CEO of Plat Technologies Limited and State Chairman of NCS Mallam Taofik Abdulkareem, a Kwaran, on his emergence as a member of the national executive council of the NFAI.
Governor Abdulrazaq urges the NFAI to actively pursue a national consensus on Internet governance and responsible use of the AI so that public interest and national security supercede any other agenda.
AbdulRazaq calls on all stakeholders to firmly push for ethical use of AI with special focus on economic growth, trade, investment, and inclusivity without jeopardising the national interest.
“There is no debate about whether or not AI has come to stay. That is foregone. But what must concern everyone is how to ensure that humanity is strengthened, and not destroyed, by AI,” the Governor says.
“It is my hope that NFAI will work with other stakeholders to build a national consensus about ensuring ethics and discipline in the digital space, particularly among the digital natives and digital immigrants alike.”
