A report from the Unilorin Bulletin on the university’s preparedness towards receiving the students said all the hostel managers were fully prepared to receive the students while clearing of bushes and fumigation of the hostel environment were ongoing to ensure the safety of students.
The Dean also disclosed that his unit had discussed with the Security Unit of the university to ensure that the security of the campus is effectively tightened in anticipation of the resumption of the students.
He added that he had on behalf of the university’s management met with the Nigeria Police, community and opinion leaders within and around Tanke on how the lives and property of students who live off-campus, particularly within the Tanke axis, could be adequately protected and to ensure that they have the much-needed peace of mind.
“Everything is being done to ensure that living and learning are made easy for the students in order for them to achieve the essence of their matriculations,” he said.
While thanking successive managements of the University for ensuring that students have more opportunities of living on campus as a result of the availability of more private hostels, Prof. Yakubu disclosed that his office is also perfecting arrangements with some private investors towards the provision of more buses that would complement the transport situation between the town and the campus.
