Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has congratulated Prof. Mohammed Jamiu Oyawoye on his 95th birthday anniversary, calling him a shining light and pride of the people of the state.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor said the nonagenarian remains a fine reference point in impactful knowledge, philanthropy, community development, and love for good governance.

“I salute Baba today, as always, for his patriotic contributions and efforts to leave a country and a state that are far better than he met them. By all fair indices, Prof has distinguished himself as an icon with indelible marks in the sand of time,” he added.

“We are always proud to be among the many followers of Baba’s progressive politics. The government and people of Kwara State are proud of his many achievements, including his pioneering strides in the field of geology in Africa. May Allah continue to look after Baba and ease the rest of his life.”

In a similar message, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, while congratulating the Baba Adini of Kwara and Doyen of Geology in Africa, noted that as a foremost educationist, administrator and philanthropist of many decades, Prof. Oyawoye touched many souls with his principle of honesty, integrity and dedication to the service of God and humanity.

A goodwill message issued by the Emir’s spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, stressed that Offa community has produced a special gift and asset to the entire Africans as well as the entire human race.

According to the statement, “Professor Jamiu Mosobalaje Oyawoye has by all standards raised the bar of promoting sociocultural and moral images of Offa community, Kwara State and Nigeria at large with outstanding scholarship and reliable mentoring of generations.

“God gave Baba Adini enormous talents, God gave him the time and the courage of conviction to reduce his thoughts into strong devotion to Allah’s cause. Future generations would learn from his wealth of experience and commitments to intellectualism.”

The Emir, therefore, prayed that Allah should continue to strengthen Professor Oyawoye for the good of the Africa continent and humanity at large.
