The Kwara state Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Monday arrested six suspects and two trucks loaded with a large number of railway slippers at Oloru, Moro Local government of Kwara state.
The state Commandant, Umar J G Mohammed, while parading the suspects, said the suspects were apprehended in the wee hours of the morning at Oloru by the personnel who were on night patrol. The six suspects, Yunusa Bello (41), Sanni Taminu (35), Sanusi Lawal (25), Alhaji Makeri (33), Lukman Sanni (32), and Olabode Johnson (41) were all arrested with the items.
The Commandant also paraded another suspect, Babatunde Adekunle (41) who he said was arrested for ATM fraud.
Babatunde was alleged to have fraudulently swapped his ATM card with an old man at one of the ATM points in a bank. Having swapped the card, he allegedly withdrew the sum of one million, eight hundred thousands naira from the account. The case was reported, and the Commandant mandated the tracking unit to arrest him within the shortest time.
Umar sent a strong warning to criminals who engage in vandalising National Critical Assets and Infrastructures to desist from it or prepare to face the consequences. He reiterated that the Command would not tolerate any act of vandalisation in the state.
The Commandant appreciates the state government, traditional Rulers and the people of the state for their support and cooperations.
He assured the public that the command will continue to work with other sister agencies to ensure the safety of lives and properties of kwarans and Nigerians as a whole.
