The Kwara Government has commenced the beautification of Flower Garden in Ilorin as part of efforts to make the place a beautiful recreational centre for residents of the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Spokesperson of the Ministry, Mr Yakub Aliagan, on Thursday in Ilorin.
It stated that the Commissioner for Environment, Mrs Remilekun Banigbe, assured that the project would promote the look of the garden, as a green area for relaxation and healthy social interaction.
“It will further beautify the state, generate revenues for the government, and promote work-life balance for the citizenry who can visit the garden for leisure purposes,” it stated.
The spokesperson described the Flower Garden landscaping and beautification as another effort of Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration to reposition Kwara, prioritise the work-life balance and social needs of its people.
He said that the garden, which had long been a shadow of itself, would be revamped for the benefits of the people of Kwara.
“The beautified garden will create new jobs and serve as an attraction site for economic development of the society.
“A section of the garden had been designed to house a Book Club for children, thereby promoting reading culture among younger people in the state,” he said.
The commissioner commended the governor for the huge investment in the provision of social amenities, infrastructure and other laudable programmes that have impacted positively on the lives of the people.
