Kwara state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Monday paraded three suspected motorcycles thieves and four others who were receivers of the stolen items.
The three alleged thieves are Abifarin Sunday, (35) Taiwo Elijah (26), both residents of Oro, in the Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara state and Wasiu Ismael (30) who resides in Ilorin metropolis.
The suspects including an ex-convict just released from prison a month ago confessed to the crime during an interview with newsmen shortly after their parade.
The alleged receivers of the stolen motor bikes include Olasunkanmi Adebisi, Olarewaju Ismael, Timothy Adeleke, Bashiru Ishola and Saadu Taiye, who were all arrested in connection with the stolen motor bikes in Ilorin and Ogbomoso, Oy Olasunkanmi o state.
Parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Ilorin the spokesman, Ayeni Olasunkanmi of disclosed that two of the machines were stolen in Oro town, while one was stolen in Ogbomoso.
He said the suspects were arrested following the theft of the motor bikes on July 15, 2022, after operatives trailed them and also recovered the three bikes.
Ayeni, disclosed that three other suspects were currently under investigation in connection with the alleged theft of the bikes.
Also arrested was the buyer of the stolen motor bikes who is a resident of Oro town, who also sold them to another buyer in Ogbomiso, in Ohio state.
The spokesman said the suspects sold two of the stolen motor bikes valued at over N1m for N360,000 to the receiver of the items.
