The Kwara State Police Command said it has launched a search and rescue operation for a kidnapped retired Custom’s Officer, Muhammed Zarma.

Muhammed, a retired Deputy Comptroller of Customs, was kidnapped on Thursday at about 1730hours by unknown gunmen speaking a Nigerian language.

According to the spokesman of the state police command, Mr Okasanmi Ajayi, Muhammed was kidnapped on his Okejia farm at Egbejila area in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The spokesman said “the Kwara State Police Command under the leadership of Police Commissioner, Tuesday Assayomo, has deployed relevant assets, both human and materials, for the rescue of one Mohammed Zarma ‘M’ a retired Deputy Comptroller of Nigeria Customs Service, who was kidnapped on his farm located at Oke Jia, Egbejila at about 1730hrs of 6/1/2022 by some unknown gunmen speaking a particular Nigerian language.

“On the visit to the scene after the incident by the Command’s operatives, four empty shells of expended ammunition were recovered,” the spokesman disclosed.

The Commissioner of Police has assured the family of the victim and the general public that no effort would be spared in getting the victim rescued unhurt and possibly arresting the perpetrators of the crime.
