The construction of the much-talked-about Ilorin Innovation Centre is underway with the clearing of a section of the expansive Kwara Hotel to accommodate the project that is designed to empower youths with new skills, support their initiatives, build and attract talents, and generate resources for the state.
A statement from the Corporate Affairs Department of Harmony Holdings Limited, the state investment manager says the area of the state-owned hotel being used for the project eats up a part of the Kwara Hotel mosque which has now been relocated to another section of the hotel. A new mosque with the same design and space is being constructed just behind the Bureau de change section of the hotel. The mosque will be ready in the next one month while a temporary space has been allowed for prayers.
The Kwara State Executive Council had recently approved the award of the contract for the Innovation Centre as part of the administration’s efforts to expand the local economy, create jobs for youths, and generate more revenues.
