The Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Fatimah Bisola Ahmed has charged Primary School Head Teachers and Junior Secondary School Principals to make sure students and teachers adhere strictly to Covid-19 guidelines as directed by Nigeria Control Disease Centre on school re-opening in order to flatten transmission curve of the pandemic.

The Commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, made this known during a workshop on Infection, Prevention and Control of Covid-19 organised by Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in conjunction with KWSUBEB for Head Teachers and Principals of Junior Secondary Schools in the State.

In her words, “flattening transmission curve of Covid-19 in our schools are the responsibility of all education stakeholders. We must make sure that disease prevention control mandated by the NCDC and Federal Ministry of Education such as, washing of hands, maintaining social distance, use of Nose masks, use of hand sanitizers, etc should be a concern for us”

The Director, Human Resources & Administration, KWSUBEB, Mrs Gloria Adebisi reiterated the present administration’s commitment towards making sure that school environment is conducive and safe for learning.

She, however, commended the initiative of UBEC and Primary Health Care Development Agency(PHCDA) for the laudable programme and urged the participants to share their acquired knowledge to other teachers across the 16 Local Government Education Authorities for effective dissemination to the pupils and students.
