The Olusin of Ijara-Isin, Kwara State, Oba Ajibola Ademola Julius, has announced plans to unveil a football club in May.
Adenola-Julius said this in an interview with newsmen on the sidelines of Kwara United’s jersey launch held at the Main bowl of the Kwara stadium in Ilorin on Thursday.
According to him, the club will further create a platform for youths in Kwara to express their passion,
Ademola-Julius, while expressing optimism in the proposed Olusin FC, described sports as a unifying factor that brought people together irrespective of religion or tribe.
“In my capacity too, because of disappointments, we are starting Olusin FC in ijara-Isin and by the grace of God we will be champions at the local level.
“Already we are preparing our stadium and I will invite sports writers to have a tour of it.
“We are using local content like bamboo for the seats and also engaging the youths in the town,” the Oba said.
Adenola-Julius, who said the football club would kick-off either in April or May, called for privatisation of Kwara united FC so that investors could come on board.
“You heard the speech of the chairman saying that Kwara United is 100 per cent owned by the state government.
”None of the big clubs in Europe is owned by their governments.
”If they can call on private investors to come in, people like us will be happy to come in as long as the line of accountability is well taken care of,” he said.
