Businessman and publisher of Ireland-based journal, The Street Journal Magazine, Mogaji Arisekola has taken a swipe at the leader of pan Yoruba group, Chief Ayo Adebanjo’s position on 2023 poll saying the nonagenarian’s standpoint isn’t the general decision of all Yorubas.
Chief Adebanjo had recently at a press conference said Afenifere is backing the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, for equity and inclusiveness, adding that the Yoruba had taken the first turn of the presidential zonal arrangement in 1999, which led to the emergence of President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Arisekola, a celebrity journalist while raising his personal political views ahead 2023 was perturbed that Pa Adebanjo or Afenifere will not support the All Progressives Congress’ candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu despite his clout, capacity, competence and robust pedigree.
According to a terse message obtained by veracitydesk.com.ng credited to Mogaji Arisekola on Tuesday titled, “Endorsement of Peter Obi By Afenifere As Presidential Candidate, A Personal Vendetta Taken Too Far”, the Ibadan-born media guru said:
“When pa Adebanjo said Ibos are the best brains we have in Nigeria someone attributed it to senility. Also yesterday, Pa Adebanjo said Afenifere will be supporting Obi, and someone queried the rationale behind this support given that Obi is not the only one contesting from the south.
“The current leadership of Afenifere can take any decision of their choice which they are entitled to, but they can’t speak for the majority of Yorubas,” Arisekola stated.
