Offa, Kwara State, 21st September 2024 – The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and concerned stakeholders in Offa Local Government Area have expressed deep disappointment over the failure of the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) to conduct the scheduled election today.

Severe logistical failures have been cited as the primary reason for the disruption. Despite the election being set to commence at 8:00 a.m., by 1:00 p.m., voting materials had not arrived at 95% of the 173 polling units across Offa Local Government.

In the few locations where materials were delivered, critical items, including ballot papers, were incomplete, and no result sheets were provided in many of the units.

This development has left voters frustrated and unable to exercise their democratic rights.

The PDP has raised concerns about the credibility and preparedness of the electoral process in Offa, given the delays and missing materials.

The party calls on KWASIEC to address these issues urgently and reschedule the election to ensure a transparent, free, and fair process that will allow the people of Offa to participate fully in their civic duties.

In the meantime, the PDP Chairmanship Candidate, Offa Local Government Area Comr. Lukman Salahudeen has urged all the community to remain calm as they await further updates from the authorities.

In a statement he issued shortly after the botched election,  Salahudeen reiterated the commitment of his party and supporters to peace assuring that no amount of provocation and backhand gimmicks would stir them into unlawful acts
