As the Federal Government College Ilorin clocks 50 this month, the executive body of the old students association says it is rolling out the drums to celebrate what it called excellent work of nation-building that has fostered unity in diversity and also raised generations of Nigerian leaders who are making positive impact in various spheres of life.
For some days running, activities have been in feverish pitch at both the school compound and other venues that have been slated to host various activities including unveiling of anniversary projects, old students reunion, symposium and an award ceremony that will celebrate outstanding teachers and give recognition to some of her distinguished old students.
The chairperson of the Local Organising Committee, Dr. Mutiat Adebanke Balogun disclosed that the school alumni from across the globe “are commiting themselves in all ramifications to the success of this once-in-a-lifetime special event, because there is a lot we look forward to achieving with the golden jubilee anniversary”
According to her, the President of the Old Students Association, Rear Admiral Muazu Salami will formally unveil the activities for the celebration at a press conference on Friday, while the Executive Council and the LOC will also pay a courtesy call on the State Governor, the same day.
She enjoins every old student to actively participate in the anniversary events and "come out to express the oneness that have been the mark of the great Federal Government College, Ilorin"
