The Kwara State Police Command, Wednesday said it has arrested two more of the armed gang which kidnapped four Turkish at Gbugbu village in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State in July 2019.

 They were among the six criminal suspects paraded by the Command for alleged various offences.

 The Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Lawal Barega while parading the suspects explained that the arrests were result of new operational strategies put in place by the command.

 The suspected kidnappers, Umaru Mohammed Tambaya and Muhammed Tambaya Bell, according to the CP, were members of a six-armed gang who kidnapped four Turkish nationals July, 2019 at Gbugbu village in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.

 He said, as a result of efforts by the men of the Command and members of the community, four of the kidnappers were arrested with one AK 47 riffle, while Umaru and Muhammed escaped at the time. The CP explained that the arrested kidnappers mentioned the arrested suspects as members of their syndicate. Ever since, he said, the Command has been on the trail of the two fleeing suspects until they were arrested through “Actionable intelligence” while planning to carry out another operation.

 “During investigation, the suspects confessed to be members of the kidnap syndicate that abducted the four Turkish citizens, they also confessed to have participated in several other kidnap incidents especially along Enugu/Abakaliki axis of the South East of the country”

 “Investigation still ongoing to arrest other syndicate members and recover their operational weapons. They will soon be charged to court.

 The CP also reported that two AK47 riffles were recovered in another operation through renewed and aggressive Motorized/Foot patrol by the officers and men of the Command. He said foot patrol men attached to Oreke Division intercepted an Okada rider suspected to be a Fulani by physical feature along Oreke/Babanla Road.

 While being questioned, the suspect zoomed off with his motorcycle and in the process a black sack fell off his motorcycle. When the sack was searched, two AK 47 riffles without magazines and ammunition were found. He said the Command is making effort to arrest the fleeing suspect.

 A suspected car thief, Abbey Adeyeye, an electrician was also paraded for stealing a Golf 3 with Reg. No. PTG 01 XA belonging one Edwin Nwakanude 'm of Gbugbu village. Nwakanude had reported at Lafiagi Police Station that he woke up and discovered that his vehicle parked in front by his house was removed by unknown person. Adeyeye was arrested by men of the Lafiagi Division and members of the vigilante along Ndanaku/Isanlu bush road that leads to Kogi State. During interrogation he confessed to have stolen the vehicle easily being an electrician. Police said investigation is still in progress to recover two other vehicles he had earlier stolen and sold in Lokoja, Kogi state.

 Another suspect paraded by the Command, Akinsola Babatunde, aka Mr White, was described  as“Organiser of Naked Party in Ilorin” The police reported that “Following credible intelligence on the criminal activities of one Akinsola Babatunde A.K.A "Mr. White" 'm of No. 16, Achimugun Street Flower Garden G.R.A, Ilorin and his cohorts who are into organizing stripe/naked parties in Lounges, Club Houses, Service apartments e.t.c. in Ilorin metropolis and its environs.

Mr. White, according to the Police had advertised for a strip party in Ilorin on social media and successfully organized a party in a service apartment at Joab Street, behind Shoprite GRA, Ilorin. The immoral and illegal action of Mr. White and his accomplices, Police said, “clearly contradicted the Covid-19 protocol and equally promotes and equally promotes crime and criminality”

 Two other suspected car snatchers, Sunday Babatunde and Adebisi Olatunde were paraded for being in possession of one Toyota Yaris with REG NO. EPE971DY &CHASSIS NO. JTDBw923001059823, suspected to be stolen. The suspects were apprehended at Ipata Oloje area of Ilorin in the process of dispossessing the vehicle. Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to have snatched the vehicle on gun point from one Adekoya Ayodele m of Eigunagbede Ogun State between 17/01/2021 & 18/01/2021 at about 0200hrs at Ibafo in Ogun State.

 The Command said the suspects would be charged to court after completion of the investigation.
