Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA) has sent stern warning to its operatives on violation of rules and indiscipline that bothers on extortion, corrupt practices, improper dressing and absenteeism from duty posts.
The Chief Executive Officer of the outfit, Alhaji Yekeen Babatunde Bello made this known in a press release on Friday.
Bello noted that the attention of management has been drawn to the increase rate of suspected extortion, improper dressing and absenteeism within and among patrol leaders and operatives as observed by member of public as a decoy to allow people committing traffic infraction free passage which is against the rules and regulations.
He said the warning became imperative for perpetrators to desist from the act as the management was ready to apply appropriate sanctions through relevant sections of the anti-graft law of the federal republic of Nigeria and KWARTMA law.
‘The general motoring public is hereby urged to desist from giving KWARTMA operatives any form of gratification except payment for traffic infraction(s) which should be paid to the government treasury through the designated banks.
“Patrol leaders, Unit heads and checkpoint operatives are hereby cautioned for the last time against such shameful act or face the full weight of the law”, the statement added.
