The Kwara State Police Command has launched a manhunt for Adegboye James, a suspect who abandoned a dead lady in a hotel room at Adewole area of Ilorin.
The lady, in her 20s, was said to have been brought by the suspect to Premium Diamond Hotel Adewole, where he had lodged, with the information that he arrived from Ede in Osun state.
According to the report given by the hotel management to the police, “James went out and came back with a lady. The said Adegboye James later checked out of the hotel without the knowledge of any of the hotel staff.
“In the morning of the following day, when nothing was heard from the room occupied by the said lodger, a spare key was used to open the room, and we were confronted by the dead body of the lady”
Police said the details supplied by the suspect at the hotel were later found to be fake and raised suspicion that he might have deliberately brought the lady to the hotel and killed her. Police also said the nature of her killing could also not be confirmed as it awaits autopsy report from the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.
This medium however gathered from a source at the hotel that the body of the deceased was found intact, possibility that might rule out ritual killing.
Police said “investigation into the incident is already at advance stage as ordered by the commissioner of police Kwara State, CP Mohammed Lawal Bagega, psc, to arrest the lodger whose name and address as reflected in the hotels log book is fake”
Spokesman of Kwara state police command, Ajayi Okasanmi who confirmed the incident told journalists in a statement that men of Homicide division have begun manhunt for the suspect.
He urged residents of Ilorin whose daughter has been missing in the last couple of days to contact the homicide unit of the Kwara State Police Command along Ahmadu Bello way Ilorin.
