Award-winning dancer, Esther Essien, on Friday advised Nigerians to look inwards for ways to cope with the economic hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Essien told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that it would be important for Nigerians of all professions to look for ideas on how best to live, during and after the pandemic.

“Some businesses and organisations in this present time have been able to reinvent and create new models to enable them overcome the difficulties presented by the pandemic,” She said

According to her, God endowed man with the ability to find solutions in challenging times.

`The instincts embedded in us ensure we always survive. The human race has gone through a lot of trying times and tragedies including wars and pandemic, yet we came out triumphant.

” Essien said she had passed such a message in a solo dance she created with the theme, “Just Me”.

“The dance piece is a universal story that resonates with most individuals, including youths and women across the world.

“The message of ‘Just me’ is quite useful and needed at this pandemic period, as it deals with the ability to invent real-time solutions in difficult situations,

“It is about how to proffer solutions, searching from within instead of outwards for solutions.

“This piece shows hope, intrinsic strength and ability to triumph in all situations. We are gods, therefore we create, we heal, we thrive, we grow and we invent new solutions to new challenges,’’ she said.

‘Just me’ won the award of ‘PRIX YONGONLON OU MEILLEUR ESPOIR’ at the ‘Africa, Simply The Best’ Contest 2019, organised by ANKATA in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso.
