The management of the University of Ilorin has come down on an outline platform, factnewsng.com for purportedly twisting the content and intents of its press statement on the transportation challenges being faced by students.

The university had on Monday, through the Director, Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun issued a statement on the gridlock on the University Road occasioned by the construction of the flyover along the route, detailing its interaction with the state government on ways to mitigate hardship and find succour for the students.

But the university on Wednesday, in another statement accused the medium of “a mischievous misrepresentation of the letters and intent of that press statement”, querying its motive for insinuating that the University blamed the state government for the transportation challenges being faced by the students.

The statement reads in part: “The content of our original press statement is very clear and there is nowhere in it that the state government is blamed for the transportation glitch on University Road.

“That insinuation is in the wild imagination of the author of the @factnewsng.com's concocted story.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the University of Ilorin, as a reputable academic institution, has nothing to do with the politics of Kwara State and nobody should hide under our genuine concern for the welfare and wellbeing of our students to pursue personal agenda”, it concluded
